Circle R Ranch, a 42-acre Flower Mound event venue with over five decades of history, has been listed for sale.

Hillary and Jason Roberts

Owners Jason and Hillary Roberts, who have owned the ranch’s operating company since 2013 and acquired full ownership in 2017, are seeking a buyer committed to preserving its legacy.

“When the interest rates jumped, our small business loan went from 5% to now almost 11. That’s not sustainable long-term,” Jason Roberts explained. “But we’re just basically looking to see what’s out there. If there’s somebody that would be interested in continuing to run this property as it is, we’re looking to make a deal.”

Established in 1973 by Alan Powdermaker, Circle R Ranch has been a staple for corporate and charity events, school functions, and community gatherings, hosting over 100,000 guests annually.

With nearby ranches along FM 1171 filling up with million-dollar homes, local residents expressed concern that Circle R will be the next property lost to suburban sprawl.

“Absolutely not,” Roberts said regarding potential residential development. “Because whoever buys it would have to go to the town and get a zoning change and everything. That’s not who we’re looking to sell to.

“We’re exploring all kinds of different options to be able to continue to keep the ranch in place for years to come, whether that be us running it or somebody else. We actually had two of our best years back-to-back sales-wise.”

A popular local restaurant is gearing up for a flavorful new chapter.

Delhi6 Indian Kitchen, known for its authentic Indian cuisine, announced Monday it will relocate to a larger location at 2420 Justin Road—formerly home to The Lost Colony—by late this summer or early fall.

The expansion comes after five years of serving the community at its original site in The Shops at Highland Village, with the owners citing growing demand and limited space as key reasons for the move.

The new space will feature larger seating capacity, private event areas for parties and meetings, and a “warm, elegant design that blends cultural heritage with modern flair.” For the first time, Delhi6 will also begin accepting reservations.

“We’ve been honored to be part of your family dinners, birthday celebrations, and joyful reunions,” the restaurant said in a statement. “Now it’s time to evolve—and grow with you.”

The move to acquire the former Mexican restaurant was prompted by financial challenges of the previous occupant and building owner.

“While the former tenant and landlord at this (new) location had their own financial challenges, this situation opened a door — quite literally — for us to bring the Delhi6 experience to a space that matches your energy, love, and enthusiasm. It’s a bittersweet transition, but one filled with hope, purpose, and promise.”

For some, it’s an emergency need to pay bills; for others it’s just nice to have the cash to put in their bank accounts.

As the price of gold hits new heights, an opportunity has emerged for anyone who stashed away Aunt Betty’s estate jewelry, or has their own unworn gold pieces (wedding ring from two marriages ago? broken gold necklace? 1910 family heirloom?).

“It’s piquing the interest of so many of our neighbors — regular people, not necessarily investors — who would like to cash in their gold items for a good price,” said Lynn Seeden, CEO of the Argyle Business Association and owner of Seeden Photography.

This is why Seeden asked master jeweler David Truong, who is a member of the Argyle Business Association, to host a local gold and jewelry cash-in event in Argyle next week.

“I know, for instance, many local senior citizens who have accumulated years of small jewelry pieces, or maybe even Krugerrands and coins, and could sure use this time to cash that in and put money back in their bank accounts,” Seeden said.

Another usual market audience are adults whose loved ones have passed along their estates of jewelry, Seeden said.

“It is often just regular people who remember they still have those couple of old gold rings or broken gold earring and would like to cash those in to pay a bill.”

The Argyle Jewelry and Gold Buying Event will be held at the Argyle Business Association office, 306 US-HWY 377 North, Suite J, Argyle, TX 76226.  The office is off the same parking lot as PointBank Argyle.

Dates: Wednesday through Saturday, May 21-24. The event hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Appointments are available every 30 minutes.  Walk-ins are also welcome, but you may have to sit and have a cup of coffee while waiting for the next opening.

How the event works: Jeweler David Truong of Mimi’s Jewelry will go over each piece you bring in, give you a professional assessment — including whether your piece is real or faux — and if there is value, he will make you an offer. If you choose to accept the offer, he will write you a check right there in exchange for the item. All payments will be by check; no cash will be exchanged.

Troung will not be selling any jewelry at the event; only purchasing from the attendees. The event is sponsored by the Argyle Business Association, and will also serve as a fundraiser for student business scholarships and local seniors meals.

For walk-ins, arrive during event hours (but don’t arrive too late in the day).

To book an appointment, click below, or go to www.ArgyleBiz.com or call (714) 932-1958.

The Flower Mound Police Department is urging parents to speak with their teens about a trending game called “Senior Assassin” that, while intended to be harmless fun, has led to dangerous behavior and, in at least one recent case, tragic consequences.

In a message posted to social media, police alerted parents to the risks associated with the popular game in which high school students “eliminate” each other using water guns or other toy weapons as part of an organized competition. The concern arises from the unsafe actions some participants take while playing.

“Some of the decisions our young people are making while playing are putting themselves in harm’s way,” the department stated, referencing a recent incident in North Texas where a high school senior was critically injured during a game. The student is currently on life support after an accident that occurred while attempting to avoid being “assassinated.”

The game, often played by seniors near the end of the school year, typically involves tracking down assigned targets and “tagging” them. However, police say that players may engage in unsafe driving, trespassing, or other reckless behavior to avoid being caught.

Flower Mound authorities are asking parents to stay informed, talk to their teens about safe conduct, and emphasize that no game is worth risking serious injury or worse.

After a comprehensive nationwide search that began in late 2024, the Town of Argyle has selected Mike Sims as its next town administrator.

Sims, a Denton native, has served as Terrell’s city manager for the past six years following nearly 11 years as the city’s assistant manager. He began his career in local government after being inspired by a high school mentoring program sponsored by the City of Denton, later earning a B.A. in Public Affairs from Indiana University and a Master’s in Economics from UT Arlington. After 15 years advising local governments across the Metroplex with the North Central Texas Council of Governments, he joined the City of Terrell in 2008. Sims and his wife, Sarah, have been married since 1994 and have seven children; they are active members of First Baptist Church of Terrell.

“I’m deeply grateful to the Argyle Town Council for entrusting me with this opportunity,” Sims said. “I’ve loved the ranches and Cross Timbers of this area since my high school days nearby. As I shared with Council, I see my role as ‘Chief Listener’—and I’m committed to serving Argyle with humility and energy. It’s an honor to help preserve and celebrate the town’s unique heritage while planning responsibly for its future.”

Mayor-elect Ron Schmidt shared an overview of the months-long process that led to the final decision.

The Town partnered with executive recruitment firm Strategic Government Resources to lead the search. More than 90 candidates applied for the position, with over 20 applicants meeting the minimum qualifications—such as prior experience in a town administrator or manager role, an advanced degree, and a demonstrated record of leadership.

From there, the applicant pool was narrowed to five finalists, each undergoing a multi-faceted interview process. Candidates completed video presentations, participated in face-to-face interviews, met individually and collectively with town staff and council members, and engaged with local residents. The process also included background checks and a written and in-person presentation outlining what they would prioritize during their first few months on the job.

“The search process was extensive and deliberate,” said Schmidt. “We were looking for someone who not only had the professional qualifications but also shared our values—someone who will be visible in the community and committed to helping Argyle preserve our small town charm.”

Sims will start on May 21st. A welcome event is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

Congressman Brandon Gill (R-Flower Mound) and Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) have introduced the Foreign Influence Transparency and Accountability Act, a new bill designed to penalize U.S. universities that fail to report foreign funding from adversarial nations such as China, Russia, and Iran.

The legislation strengthens current requirements under the Higher Education Act, which already mandates that institutions disclose foreign gifts and contracts totaling $250,000 or more in a calendar year. The new bill aims to enforce stricter consequences for noncompliance and increase oversight of foreign involvement in America’s higher education system.

“American universities that receive taxpayer funding and mold the minds of our next generation of working adults should not be compromised by the foreign influence of adversarial nations and their big ticket donations,” said Rep. Gill. “I am honored to team up with Senator Ted Cruz of Texas to combat foreign propaganda in our higher education system through this legislation.”

Sen. Cruz echoed those concerns, citing the Chinese Communist Party’s extensive efforts to influence American thought and institutions.

“Unchecked foreign funding flowing into American universities opens the door for adversaries to influence American students and research,” Cruz said. “This bill would ensure that higher education institutions are held accountable if they fail to disclose foreign funding, as required by law.”

The bill includes several key provisions:

  • A 300% excise tax on all funds received from designated adversarial countries
  • A 110% excise tax on any unreported foreign funding
  • Biennial audits of 30 U.S. universities, with priority given to those with large endowments and a history of noncompliance

Combined, these taxes could result in a 410% penalty for universities that both receive and fail to report such foreign funding.

The bill is supported by FDD Action and Heritage Action, two advocacy groups focused on national security and policy transparency.

“Protecting our academic institutions from covert foreign influence is essential for national security,” said Nick Stewart, FDD Action’s Senior Director of Government Relations. “We urge swift passage of this bill.”

The legislation comes amid ongoing investigations into American universities’ ties with foreign governments. Recently, the Trump administration launched a probe into the University of California over its alleged failure to report $220 million in donations from the Chinese government.

Supporters of the bill are calling for swift congressional action to ensure American educational institutions remain free from foreign manipulation and aligned with U.S. national interests.

Kimzey’s Coffee Shop, the whimsical local café at Hwy 377 and FM 407 in Argyle, is set to close its doors on May 17, after eight years of business.

The operator shared that the building they are leasing has been sold, prompting the unexpected closure.

“It was a bit of a surprise, but we met with the new owners and it was very amicable,” said Kimzey’s owner Matt Fisher.

“The new owners wanted to bring their concept to Argyle,” Fisher said. “They have a great vision and know how special the building is and have every intention of keeping that going. They live in Argyle and are excited to serve their community.”

He did not disclose the name of the new owners or the type of café that is coming in.

Fisher added that the change was not for a lack of business, saying the coffee shop had “record sales month over month lately.”

Since opening on March 6, 2017, Kimzey’s became a community gathering place known for its storybook-like building, warm atmosphere, and strong ties with the town’s residents. In a heartfelt letter posted on Facebook, the Kimzey’s team thanked the Argyle community for years of support, laughter, and shared memories.

“These past 8 years have been truly a dream,” the letter read. “Thank you for welcoming us into your town, supporting us, making us laugh, and loving us. It has been our joy to connect with you, provide a space for you to connect with each other. ”

The owners encouraged customers to stop by during their final two weeks to reminisce, share memories, and celebrate the journey together.

The shop’s message ended with a fitting tribute to its mission: “We really do dream of a world brought together by a good cup of coffee, a kind community, and whimsical imagination… we hope we did that for you, for you did that for us.”

Milestone Church in Keller is expanding its reach to Denton County with the upcoming launch of a new campus in Argyle.

The new location will take over the 90,000 square-foot Cross Timbers Church campus on Hwy 377, with plans to officially open in August 2025 following renovations. In the meantime, services will begin June 15 at Liberty Christian School as part of the campus’s soft launch.

Milestone Church Pastor Jeff Little told his congregation on Sunday that Cross Timbers Church elders approached his church about a partnership after experiencing challenges during the past year.

To engage the community and grow the new campus, Milestone is assembling a Launch Team and inviting those interested to participate in ministry roles, volunteer service and church events. An interest meeting will be held May 17 at the Keller Campus, offering attendees a chance to meet Milestone staff and learn about the vision for the Argyle campus.

While Milestone prepares to move into its new space, Cross Timbers Church is also hosting a Discovery Night on May 18 at 6 p.m., designed to help community members connect with the new church’s mission and ministries.

Cross Timbers Church celebrated its 25th anniversary this year. Milestone Church is 23 years old and has satellite campuses in Haslet and McKinney.

Argyle ISD voters approved the $423,170,000 bond proposal that included both Propositions A & B in the Saturday, May 3, Bond Election.

Proposition A passed by 65.73% and 2,467 votes. This proposition includes Elementary #6, Middle School #2, Middle School #4 design, Elementary School #5 Construction Escalation, Land Acquisition & Offsite costs, Capital Improvements, Buses & Technology Infrastructure.

This proposition allows the district to provide classroom capacity to accommodate the district’s rapid enrollment growth. The district is expected to reach nearly 12,000 students in 2035. Argyle ISD currently has 6,200 students in Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade.

Proposition B passed by 56.79% and 2,125 votes and includes a baseball/softball complex at Argyle High School in Canyon Falls. This will allow AHS teams to practice and play at their home campus when the district transitions to two high schools in the 2027-2028 school year.

“What an incredible message of support our community sent today,” Argyle ISD Superintendent Dr. Courtney Carpenter said. “We are so grateful to the Argyle ISD families, staff, community, partners and businesses who responded in this election by going to the polls, making their voice heard in protecting and preserving the tradition of academic and extracurricular excellence of this wonderful district. This bond proposal paves the way for the continued success as a destination district for decades to come.”

“Amazing day and future for all of Argyle ISD,” School Board President Sam Slaton said. “Our community has spoken, and that voice has loudly said it supports the students of this district! Words cannot justly describe the gratitude we as a district have, for not only its supporters but the countless hours of dedication from those who poured into making this a successful bond. We are excited that, through the passage of these bond propositions, the district can continue to focus on upholding our standard of excellence in our rapid growth environment. This community has spoken loudly in its support for these bond propositions, for our students’ wellbeing, and for the vision of where we will continue to soar!”

The bond proposal was constructed by the community-led Bond & Growth Planning Committee. The 30-member committee, which included parents, staff and community, met during the fall and studied demographics, facilities and finances in constructing a revised bond proposal from 2024.

The bond proposal will maintain the current tax rate for voters. The Argyle ISD School Board will canvass the votes at the Monday, May 19 regular School Board meeting.

Proposition A – $393,735,000
