The following is a summary of incident reports recently made to the Argyle Police Department as compiled by the staff of the CTG:
Police checked on reports of a couple of teen-age boys who were “ding dong ditching,” or running through residents’ yards and ringing doorbells before taking off again, according to the report. The teens, one believed to be from Denton and the other from Highland Village, were seen in the 300 block of Creekside Trail before getting into a vehicle and leaving the area.
Police checked on a vehicle with its interior lights left on in the 100 block of Timber Creek Drive. After chatting with the resident, he advised his mother-in-law forgot to turn the light off. No criminal activity was reported.
Police responded to a caller who told them a truck was parked at the front entrance of an old trailer park in the 100 block of East FM 407. Upon arrival, the officer learned the owner was onsite and trying to turn off the water connections due to impending cold weather.
Police checked on a report of a moving van parked where the mail delivery truck normally is parked at the Argyle Post Office in the 400 block of U.S. Highway 377. An officer found one of the exterior doors unlocked, opening to an area with two doors. One door was locked and the other opened into a janitorial closet. Officers checked the lobby and found nothing amiss.
A report of an unoccupied truck left running in the middle of the road in the 400 block of Boonesville Bend was called in. An officer determined the truck belonged to a landscaping crew.
A landowner in the 900 block of Stonecrest Road called police to tell them someone had repeatedly cut the property line fence next to a neighboring industrial complex. The resident asked for closer patrols due to the repeated fence cutting. He was on the property repairing the fence – this time cut from top to bottom – to keep the cows from getting out.
A resident told police as he was driving up his long driveway in the 800 block of Justin Road, someone in an unknown vehicle followed him. The resident told police it was very unusual for someone to follow him up the driveway as it was a “pretty long driveway.” After the resident spotlighted the vehicle, it took off.
Police were notified when a construction crew began working on a Sunday in the 700 block of Gibbons Road. An officer responded and advised the crew that construction was not allowed on Sundays.
Officers were called when someone spotted a truck upside down in the creek at South Gibbons Road and Dove Creek Road. No injuries were reported.
Police responded to a report of a burglary at Frenchtown Road and U.S. Highway 377. According to the report, a man wearing dark clothing, a ski mask and carrying a flashlight was seen attempting to break into a signal cabin by the railroad tracks.
